The book What They Fought For, by James M. McPherson came in three sections. The commencement ceremony chapter talked about the allied side and questions what they fought for. The book also takes a play into the Union side, while the third chapter takes a compute at the thr alldom issue by both sides. In the first chapter, it talks about what the Confederate soldiers were thinking when penning in their letter and journals. These men were filled with the willingness to die for impropriety and self-government. A soldier said that the war was a splashing between Liberty on one side, and Tyranny on the other. Unlike the Confederates, some of these Yankees had feelings of hate that reviled the Confederate soldiers.
